refilled

Can I bring my used bottle to be refilled?

The inevitable question from customers: “can I bring my used bottle to be refilled?”

Sorry. The answer is NO, on two levels.

ON A LOGICAL LEVEL

We manufacture cosmetics under GMP conditions. Therefore, we must fill bottles under GMP conditions. Further, our Quality Manager contacted the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA). They are responsible for our cosmetics GMP Certification. Their response was clear. NOT ALLOWED. Customers cannot  bring bottles to be refilled. Also, they added that if were refilling customer bottles, then our Notification Certificate would be cancelled immediately. Ouch!!

For  skin & hair care products there are GMP acceptable alternatives. But they require research and investment

ON AN EMOTIONAL LEVEL

Our Indochine Natural artisans and our brand take great pride in product quality. Therefore, we manufacture and fill bottles under GMP conditions. In fact, it’s like an operating theatre. But, on an emotional level, to re-fill a returned bottle outside of these conditions is difficult, if you care about product quality.

Indeed, we are looking at these issues. For example, one approach we are testing is the use of aluminum returnable bottles. Here, customers would return these, and we would refill under GMP conditions. Also,  we are testing for heavy metal residues in our product in these aluminum bottles. Generally speaking, this is a time-consuming and expensive process.

Also, we need to consider the bigger picture.

At Indochine Natural, in everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo. We are not interested in taking short cuts for quick profits.
