Our Co-founder & Chief Formulator, Dr Mike Thair, discusses face oil.

“Can I really use organic face oil on my oily skin? We hear this comment often from consumers.  And, the immediate answer is YES.

And it’s a question that comes with Private Label inquiries.

Face and body oils are nothing unique. In fact, they date back to ancient Egypt, Greek, and Roman empires. It is only recently that they have come back in vogue.

Notably,  plant-based facial oils are moisturizers that provide a bigger boost of hydration than your regular lotion moisturizer.  The reason is simple. Oils are lipophilic (fat-loving), so they absorb into the skin’s lipid barrier keeping your skin hydrated.  The big side benefit is that the appearance of fine lines is softened.

We need to be clear on one thing here…..we are talking plants, not mineral oils.

Now, back to the skin question. Natural plant oils trick your skin into thinking it has enough oil. Thus the skin shuts off sebum production.

If you have dry or blemished skin, they will help to lock in moisture by forming a protective barrier.  Additionally,  it also cleans out and refreshes pores.

These natural plant ingredients are a great addition to your daily beauty ritual, regardless of skin type. Also, they do not cause breakouts and can help reduce inflammation. Regular use will decrease fine lines. Also, they protect against dry and flaky skin.

Can I toss out my moisturising cream?

Yes indeed, you certainly can.

Organic face oil has swept into the skincare sector. They have changed beauty regimens overnight. This is for some great reasons. First, they are all-natural. Second, they penetrate the skin to provide a soft glow. At the same time, they moisturise.

Why are facial oils better than creams? Check out the ingredient lists. You will see that many skin creams include waxes.  These form a barrier to help retain skin moisture.  But downside is that these waxes build up and cause blocked pores. Plus, they also prevent the penetration of the oil components of the cream. Remember, it is the oil component that contributes to significant skin benefits.

Also, synthetic fragrance ingredients and preservatives are common in creams. These are common skin irritants.

In comparison, when organic face oil is applied to the skin, it is absorbed into the top layers of the epidermis. Here it goes to work to improve the lipid barrier function. Often you will notice immediate results from the first application. After continual use of a few weeks, the replenished lipid barrier will provide the skin with a noticeable healthy glow.
