Managing a skin and hair care company takes a lot of energy. Given my advancing years, people ask how I manage.

In fact, it’s all about maintaining a peak state of mind.

I’m sure you have experienced days where you feel highly motivated, energized, and have the energy to crush your day. Then there are those other days when you feel sluggish and unmotivated. Days where you tend towards procrastination. As a result, nothing gets done. Your daily “to-dos” pile up and are put off until tomorrow.

The fact is, that when you are energized and motivated, you will achieve your goals. It transforms procrastinating into productivity. And it’s all about maintaining a peak state of mind.

My days are long and active. I’m usually at my laptop by 4:30 am for two hours of uninterrupted writing and answering emails. Next, a healthy breakfast and catch up with the world news.

We arrive at our production facility by 8:30 am. Then it is full-on until 5:30 pm, with a short vegetarian lunch from home. Back at home, I will break for a meal between 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Then back to the laptop. To tidy up and plan our next day. Usually, I’m in bed by 11:00 pm.

To maintain my daily energy, I use three-morning hacks to get me into a peak state of mind.


A quick workout. A 30-minute workout is not necessary. I opt for 10 push-ups, one minute plank, 20 posture exercises against a wall, squats, and touching my toes (not quite, but I’m trying).


A 30-second cold shower. Try it. You will notice how awake, energized, and fired up, you feel when you leave the shower. This instant boost of energy feels amazing. And it’s worth the initial struggle. I incorporate this into the last 30-seconds before getting out of the shower.
